THE INTERFERENCE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES WITH ELLIPTIC, CIRCULAR OR LINEAR POLARIZATION
A general formula of interference of two coherent elliptic polarized waves both in the opposite and in the same direction of their electrical vectors` rotation is obtained. As a special case, the interference of two waves with circular polarization is considered, the direction of their electric vectors` rotation being opposite. Another special case is the interference of two linearly polarized waves with the same direction of their electrical vectors. The role of the analisator in observing the interference in both common and special cases is explained. The theoretical conclusions are confirmed by the experiment in the centimeter wave band. The experimental installation is made according to Jung`s interference diagram where the apertures are stopped by synthetic phase concavely-refracted quarter-wave plates, which allows getting coherent waves with elliptic circular of linear polarization.
