The physical principles of the new in situ electromagnetic technique for measuring the freezing potentials of diluted aqueous solutions are developed. The technique is based on the relationship between the freezing potential arising on the solidification of diluted aqueous solutions of electrolytes and the quasistationary electrical field near the ice-water system
