KINETICS AND GEOMETRY OF NONEQUILIBIRUM ICE GROWTH IN A SUPERCOOLED WATER FILM

Annotation

A quasiadiabatic approach to Stephan`s problem for ice growth in a supercooled film at supercooling ΔT=15 - 80 K is developed. It is shown that the solid phase form in the thermal conditions is a thin plate. The plate section profile is Suffman - Taylor finger. The finger tip radius and the velocity distribution along the phase interface vs. the supercooling of water is estimated.
