A PROJECT OF COMPUTER AIDED LEARNING: A COURSE OF COMPUTER ALGEBRA IN THE WEB
During last ten years the University curricula in Spain have been changed, producing sensible variations in subjects, decreasing theoretical classes and increasing the practical ones. As a consequence of that, the students have to stay in the University more time with sparse classes, sparse free time and without enough time to study. When they arrive (late) at home, after a long day, they are tired, without any time and next day they have to get up early. So, the students do not learn. Let us try to contribute with a possible solution that gave us excellent results. We propose a way to get the students think about the contents of a subject, and consequently, they can assimilate and understand them, using part of practical classes (in computer classroom) with CAL (Computer Aided Learning) courses designed following learning and pedagogical methodologies. In particular, we focus this paper with a web course of Introduction to Computer Algebra, subject of 3rd course in the Facultad de Informatica of the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia. Let us explain the general methodology to produce CAL courses and how can be applied to develop the course Introduction to Computer Algebra step by step. The course is available in http://18.104.22.168/webmat/ and a password can be asked for the authors.
