SPECTROPOLARIMETER INVESTIGATIONS OF THE ATMOSPHERIC AEROSOL. A SPECTROPOLARIMETER FOR INVESTIGATION OF THE NATURAL AND SMOKE AEROSOL IS DESCRIBED

Annotation

The instrument allows measuring the phase function and linear polarisation of scattered light at three angles - 45°, 90°, 135° in the spectral range 0,4-0,75 mcm. The instrument is supplied with a low-temperature heater which allows obtaining the scattering characteristics of dry aerosol fraction. Some results of the measurements are presented. It is shown that the spectral dependencies of the scattering matrix components in the red spectral range (λ > 0,65 mcm) cannot be described by single modal particle size distribution. The inverse problem is solved for some examples and a complex refractive index and volume distributions for the natural aerosol and dry particles are obtained.
