Carbon dioxide emission from modern and buried chestnut soils of dry steppe in Lower Volga river basin

Annotation

The rate of carbon dioxide emission from the modern and buried (I century AD) chestnut soils of the dry steppe in the Lower Volga river basin was estimated in situ in the summer. Differences in the rate of C-CO2 emission under burial mound paleosoils and their modern analogues depended on the type of soil and substantially were caused by higher moisture of soils, buried under burial mound. It is shown that raised contents of the nitrate form of the nitrogen in under burial mound paleosoils (A1 horizon) can serve as the season indicator of burial mound buildings.
