Children's periodicals: historical, typological and functional aspects and substantive aspects

Annotation

Children Press is an independent typological group. Current study is the historical background that determined the appearance of the first magazines for children. The article is devoted to the evolution of functional purpose and didactic traditions children's periodicals. Certain criteria allowed the author to identify the existence of these types of children's magazines: scientific education and spiritual enlightenment (18–19 centuries): “Children reading for the heart and mind” by N.A. Novikov, “Children book for Sunday” by V.F. Odoevskiy, “New Library for Education” by P.G. Redkin, “Fun for children, or Assembly of short stories, conversations and moralistic, servants to amusement and instruction of children” by V. Okorokov, magazines “Star” and “Rays” by A.O. Ishimova etc.; prerevolutionary newsmagazines for children ( beginning of the twentieth century): “Children’s rest”, “Galcian” etc.; pioneering magazine for children (1922–1990.): Socio-political (“Young comrades”, “drum”, “Pioneer”, “New Robinson” etc.), non-fiction (“Knowledge-force”, “Young Naturalist”, “Joker”, “Young artist”), literary art and entertainment (“hedgehog” and “Siskin”).The subject of research is the typological structure of these magazines, which was influenced by the pedagogical and educational ideas. Particular attention is given to the organization of the editorial staff circle (children's writers and poets, scientists), forms of communication with the audience, genre and compositional characteristics of information for children; analyzes the role in the development of children's magazine journalism and its socio-cultural mission.
