THE SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE OWNERS OF THE TRADING HOUSES OF TAMBOV PROVINCE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Annotation

The social composition of owners of commercial houses Tambov province were examined, as a special form of trading and business activity, widely spread in Russia in the early XX century. Associated forms of entrepreneurial activity - trading houses - were at a higher stage of development, than the sole privately owned means of trade and industrial relations. The owners of the trading houses were the leaders of the business community of the region. The objective of the study - is to identify and analyze the main social and economic indicators of the regional bourgeoisie, its size, structure, replenishment sources. Special attention is paid to the gender aspect. In Tambov province in 1914 24 % of the total number of trading houses was organized by women or with their direct participation. As the sources of the study were both used published and unpublished archival materials. Among them Russian reference books of trading houses, collections of industrial statistics. Unpublished archival materials allow to identify regional peculiarities of the formation of entrepreneurial stratum of society.
