THE FORMS OF EXPRESSIONS OF MASS POLITICAL CULTURE IN 1917 (based on the Tambov province)

Annotation

Important subjects, revealing the features of perception of reality, the revolutionary people of the Russian province in 1917 were reviewed. The investigating of the symbols in everyday life, the use of images that have arisen in the collective consciousness of society at crucial stages in the development of Russian history, which includes revolution, allows the re-searcher to uncover deeper and understand the general peculiarities of the Russian revolutionary process. The urgency dictated by the almost complete absence of studies on the external manifestations of mass political culture – signs, rites, rituals, symbols, language revolutionary era and their interpretation, as on the national and regional levels. A particular challenge in this case is caused lack of narrative, which could rely on the identification and isolation of ritual manifestations of the political culture. Poor preservation of sources and materials that could shed light on the matter under consideration in the Tambov province as well served as a reason for seeking to investigate this issue, especially because this existential problem is not put on the materials before us in the region. Revolutionary songs, slogans external element of political culture appeared. At the meetings, held at a large gathering of people, usually on the square before the temple, were revolutionary processions, with a touch of religiosity, which often escalated into mourning processions, “the funeral of the old world”. They resembled medieval magical rites. Their main pioneers were usually returned to the village soldiers vacationers, who had a high socio-political activity. Overflowing passion with a demonstration of the new revolutionary character fueled by the population of the Tambov province rumors about the occurrence of complete freedom, perceived as an endorsement of the higher authorities permit unauthorized provincial society, both political and everyday problems.
