Collective portrait of Tambov social elite of 1920-1940-s, received as a result of the processing of electronic prosopographic (comparative-biographical) database is described. At the moment in aggregated state the elite corpus includes about 2900 personalities and is sufficiently representative for the study. Processing of socio-graphic information is held by mathematical methods and mandatory adherence to the principle of historicism in explaining the results. Thus obtained conclusions cannot be fundamentally revised and clarified to a fraction of a percent, with the possible expansion of our electronic resources. The comparative analysis of age and gender and national structure, educational level and party of the elite and the population of the USSR on All-Union census of 1926 and 1939 shows the characteristics of the collective image of the Tambov upper classes. It was found that women’s aggregate of database in general, younger, better educated and has a higher share of party membership than the male part of elite. It is a manifestation of high social activity of young fairer sex in the gender unequal struggle for a better place. The share of non-Russian account for 13.5 % of the aggregate database. The most actively showed themselves Ukrainians (3.9 %), Jews (3.5 %) and Poles (2.4 %). Geographical origin of the Tambov elite expanded every seven years due to staff turnover and peaceful and military social mobility. The largest share (23 %) of non-native upper classes gave the neighbors - the towns and villages of Voronezh, Kursk and Orel. In general, on the formation and evolution of the upper classes influenced both natural-demographic and socio-political factors.
