Educational policy of Catherine II in the practice of the Imperial journeys
It is devoted to the study of the influence of the practice of the imperial Catherine’s II journeys on government educational concept. Catherine II and her companions had long been in search of an educational model (particularly primary, secondary school) for the Russian Empire. Therefore it is very important to study the circumstances of a formation of Catherine’s concept of school education required for Russia. It is discussed how the introduction of the Empress with the situation on the ground in the course of her travels was a condition for the formation of certain beliefs about the state of education in Russia, contributing to the development of further activities. On the other hand, the influence of the personal presence of the Empress in provincial and district cities of Russia on solving specific issues associated with supporting local educational institutions in Russia, with the preparation of the school reform in Russia are analyzed. Meeting with vulnerable parties of educational institutions, Empress visibly convinced of the lack of its funding by local agencies. It is proved that visiting a number of schools, insufficient advanced methods of education, the low level of pupil success contributed to the further evolution of her views in the field of educational policy. It is shown that these circumstances have paid attention of the power to creating mass public school problem. All this laid the basis for future reforms
