Use of information and communication technologies in development of students’ learning and cognitive competence via information and communication technologies

Annotation

Informatization of language education contributed to a wide use of new information and communication technologies (ICT). The development of foreign language communicative competence in a variety of components (linguistic, discourse, socio-cultural, strategic and learning and cognitive) acts as one of the main goals of foreign language teaching at different stages of training. The informatization of education has an impact on the content of teaching all components of foreign language communicative competence. This research is devoted to determining the content of teaching and learning of the cognitive component of students’ foreign language communicative competence on the basis of modern information and communication technologies. The studies on the development of productive and receptive speech skills using blogs, wikis, podcasts, as well as the formation of students’ lexical and grammatical language skills via various kinds of linguistic corpus are analyzed. Training content of cognitive component of foreign language communicative competence on the basis of modern information and communication technologies is developed. In the author's opinion distinguishing feature of the formation of educational-cognitive component of foreign language communicative competence on the basis of ICT consists of the following skills and abilities: select the appropriate ICT tools to achieve the learning goal; conduct search, classification, selection, analysis of language, speech, or socio-cultural material on the Internet; use of information and reference resources on the Internet; develop the kinds of speech activity on the basis of modern information and communication technologies: blog-technology (writing, reading), wiki technology (writing, reading), podcasts (listening, speaking); form aspects of language (vocabulary, phonetics, grammar) on the basis of modern information and reference and multimedia resources (linguistic body (vocabulary, grammar), multimedia programs (phonetics, vocabulary, grammar); form sociocultural competence on the basis of modern ICT (information and reference resources Internet technology blog, wiki technology, podcasts) to form intercultural competence on the basis of modern ICT (participation in discussions on blogs and web forums, participate in online projects on platforms wikis and podcasts); pick up available, reliable and valid assessment instruments.
