Classical and Post-Classical Approaches to Labor Migration as a Socio-Economic Phenomenon

Annotation

Labor migration, as a phenomenon of social reality, is an integral process of a globalized world. E. G. Ravenstein, a geographer of German origin, laid the theoretical basis for studying the phenomenon of migration. T. Man, D. Ricardo, A. Smith, J. Harris, E. Lee, etc., worked within various theories with the phenomenon of labor migration. The article analyzed classical and subclassic economic approaches to the phenomenon of migration – mercantelism (T. Man and J.-B. Colbert), theories of classical political economy (A. Smith, D. Ricardo, J. Stuart Mill, etc.), Keynesianism, Marxism, «attraction-ejection» theories, macro- and microeconomic theories (M. Friedman and P. Samuelson), Economic cycle feedback theories (B. Thomas), new migration economics theories, dual labor market theory (M. Piore, A. Portes, D. Solow, et al.), world labor market theories (E. P. Pletnev and J. Johnston), international immigration market theory (J. Borjasa,), the theory of the global migration system (I. Wallerstein), the theory of the new international economic order (J. Bhagwati and V. Bening), and the theory of human capital (G. Becker and T. Schultz).
