PATRICK J. BUCHANAN ABOUT POST-SOVIET RUSSIA

Annotation

A stepwise political biography of Patrick Joseph Buchanan, who is a relatively popular person, though quite a marginal politician, a specific American political thinker, publicist, journalist and an eminent ideologist of the contemporary American isolationism is considered. Also an analysis presented in his views concerning distinctive features of the present-day Russian statehood, determining the position of post-Soviet Russia in the current system of international relations is studied. The newest P.J. Buchanan’s estimations was contrasted against his own earlier estimations concerning distinguishing features of present-day Russia, stated by him several years ago, long before the certain increasing of Russia’s activity took place in the international arena, and followed after it attraction of increased attention of the world community to our state in general and to its national leader in particular. An attempt to reveal a certain dynamics of P.J. Buchanan’s views concerning our state was made, with the result that certain inconsistency and even discrepancy of his views concerning post-Soviet Russia was discovered. Also an increased respect to V.V. Putin was detected, passing every now and then up to admiration to the latter and a policy he conducts both within the state and in the international arena.
