Experience of identifying the remnants of the disappeared settlements in the course of field expeditions (on the example of Bondarskiy district)

We describe an expedition to the abandoned settlements of the Bondarskiy district of the Tambov Region, which was part of the Tambov Library Society project, implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund (project no. 17-1-009679) in 2018. The main purpose of the study is to identify cause-and-effect relationships that reflect social and the economic appearance of the Russian village today. We also reflect the historiography of the problem of preserving the historical memory of abandoned settlements and analyze the causes of their desolation on the example of the Bondarskiy district settlements. In addition, the study contains photographs of rural household items made in one of the abandoned villages (Kukanovka).
