ULTRASOUND COLOR DOPPLEROGRAPHY IN THE DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF ANTERIOR AND POSTERIOR OPTIC NEUROPATHY

Annotation

Purpose : to assess the blood flow status in the magistral vessels of the eye ball in anterior and posterior ocular optic neuropathy. Material and methods : 35 patients with anterior and posterior optic neuropathy were analyzed using color Doppler mapping on the device LOGIC E 10 MHz. Results : we revealed the reliable significant alterations of the magistral vessels blood flow, allowing to perform the differential diagnosis of anterior and posterior optic neuropathy. It was revealed that in anterior optic neuropathy the reliable significant blood flow decrease was observed in the posterior short ciliary artery, and in posterior optic neuropathy the significant blood flow decrease was observed in the ophthalmic artery. Conclusion : thus, ultrasound color dopplerography is one of the methods in the differential diagnosis of this pathology. In anterior and posterior optic neuropathy, the reliable significant blood flow decrease was revealed in the posterior short ciliary artery and ophthalmic artery, respectively.
