YAG-LASER SURGERY IN THE TREATMENT OF RETINAL BREAKS

Annotation

The study included researching 8 patients (8 eyes) with retinal horseshoe tears and local retinal detachment. The average age was 50.6 ± 11.7 years. Selection criterion was a peripheral tear with unit vitreal traction fixed to the top of the retinal break according to the ultrasound and OCT. Previously all patients had received the barrier laser photocoagulation of the break, than YAG-laser destruction of vitreous strands according to their localization. Laser radiation was performed through the Goldmann 3-mirror contact lens using “Ellex Ultra Q Reflex -Nd:YAG 1064 nm” - in the main group (4 eyes), and “Carl Zeiss Meditec Visulas AG - Nd:YAG III 1064 nm” - in the control group (4 eyes). In the main group all vitreal strands were completely crossed without significant surrounding structures damage. In 2 cases there was a slight retinal petechial hemorrhages. In the control group the elimination of the tractions was achieved with great energy parameters and a smaller number of radiation pulses from ND:YAG laser. In 3 cases there was small bleeding from the choroid in the projection of the laser impulses.
