The use of intradermal electrophoresis to improve the therapeutic efficacy of pharmaconeuroprotection in patients with optic nerve atrophy

Annotation

Purpose: to study clinical effectiveness of intradermal electrophoresis method at pharmaconeuroprotection in patients with optic nerve atrophy (ONA). Methods: in comparative aspect we analyzed efficiency of the pharmaconeuroprotection including cyto-flavinum, cortexin and retinalamin in combination with the method of a transversal galvanization promoting a regional cumulation of medicinal substances in 27 patients (34 eyes) with ONA (the main group) and after identical medicamental treatment without physiotherapy – at 20 patients (26 eyes) with ONA (the control group). Results: the clinical manifestation of the efficiency of the method in a prospective study was the increase: in visual acuity in average of 0.18 ± 0.01; in cooperative borders of a field of vision – of 78.5 ± 7.9°; in peak systolic bloodflow – of 3.1 ± 0.05 cm to 6–8 months of starting of treatment, and 1.5-fold increase in the proportion of patients with stabilization of achieved therapeutic effect in observation period of 10–12 months. Conclusions: method of intradermal electrophoresis at pharmaconeuroprotection in patients with ONA in main group, in comparison with the control, has provided the best functional outcome.
