Epidemiology of visits of patients with acute injuries and eye diseases according to data of emergency eye care center of Penza Regional Eye Hospital

Epidemiology of eye injuries is one of the main components for multivariate analysis of various issues related to this problem, including medical and social services, rehabilitation, economic and others. Frequent occurrence of injuries mainly in young people of working age and the possibility of complications posed a serious threat to vision define the medical and social significance of eye injuries. In this regard, retrospective analysis of data for the provision of urgent care to patients with injuries and acute diseases of the eye and adnexa in Penza Regional Eye Hospital for the 1991–2015 years was made on the material of Emergency eye care center visit journal, which amounted to 280825 people. In the nosology structure of diseases (33.16 %) and damage the organ of vision (66.84 %) for 25 years private (76.17 %) and work-related injuries (23.83 %) were dominated. A stable relationship of disease and injury among the visit reasons, a sharp reduction in the relative number of work-related injuries from 2006 to about 1 %, and the downward trend in the overall severity of eye injuries, mostly during the last decade, were noted. As a method of reflection of social, demographic and economic aspects of the development of society, the study of this issue will enable further improvement of the planning of reasonably assist this group of patients.
